Monthly round-up – December 2018
Dear CLFMA members and industry colleagues,
CLFMA is continuing its efforts towards the upliftment of Livestock Sector in India. Let me highlight a few important activities from last month:
Policy Updates / Representations submitted by CLFMA
Meeting at Krishi Bhavan 4th December 2018

Our Livestock Industry is facing a great difficulty due to GST (5%) on soymeal and soybean. In this connection, as a CLFMA Representative our Executive Director Mr.Raghavan Sampathkumar and Dr. A K Rajput had a meeting with GST Council and discussed the issue on GST on feed raw material and earnestly made request to exempt Soymeal and Soybean from GST.

13th PDFA Expo 2018 on 15th to 17th December, 2018 at Ludhiana

Progressive Dairy Farmers’ Association (Regd.) PDFA is a pioneer organization working for the overall development of dairy farmers. PDFA organized 13th PDFA Expo 2018 at Ludhiana on aforesaid dates. I on behalf of CLFMA attended the same.

Meeting at Krishi Bhavan on 17th and 18th December, 2018

Myself along with the other office bearers met Shri. Radha Mohan Singh, Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare and President of the ICAR Society and discussed on the various issues the Livestock Industry is facing.

We had a meeting along with the other office bearers with Shri. Tarun Sridhar, Secretary ADF and made an earnest request to release wheat under controlled price for betterment of Poultry Industry.

Delegation had a meeting on the same day with Shri Sagar Mehra, Joint Secretary – Trade and as per their request submitted feed standard requirements for cattle, poultry and aqua species.

CLFMA delegation also had a meeting with Dr. O. P. Chaudhary, Joint Secretary (NLM) and requested the government to extend support and regular interaction to resolve industries major concerns.

CLFMA delegation had a meeting with Dr. Suresh S Honnappagol, Animal Husbandry Commissioner, Department of AHD & F and promised to step up CLFMA interaction and co-operation with all Veterinary Universities across India.

CLFMA extended sincere thanks to Ministries and acknowledged their constant and timely support from time to time.

CLFMA delegation had fruitful meeting with Counsellor for Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality, Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Mr. Siebe Schuur, New Delhi. They had a good discussion on the future possibilities of enhanced co-operation in the livestock sector in India. They exchanged the thoughts on how to co-operate more in terms of sharing knowledge between Netherlands and India in the aforesaid sector and promised them to engage with them to enhance and encourage two-way trade between India and Netherlands and enhance co-operation between two countries.

Events Update
Aqua Biz India 2018

Mr. Divya Gulati, Secretary, CLFMA, participated in the Managing Committee meeting of the APWA (Aquaculture Professionals Welfare Association) in Vijayawada earlier and discussed about possible areas of collaboration to enhance CLFMA's footprint in Aqua sector. It was decided to participate in the AquaBiz 2018 event also to meet with stakeholders in the aqua segment.

CLFMA partnered with the event Aquabiz India 2018 to be held on 21-23 December 2018, at V R Siddhartha Engineering College Grounds, Kanuru, Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh. We will be having a booth and it is a part of our effort to reach out to the aqua sector more actively.

Media Coverage

We also garnered extensive media coverage in both business and popular media besides online social media platforms for our activities for the last month.

Further, I would like to solicit your valuable inputs and suggestions to improve further and achieve the newer heights.
